The term “differential privacy” was coined by Michael Schroeder. The impossibility of semantic secu- rity is due to Dwork and Naor \[25]. Composition and group privacy for (ε,0)-differentially private mechanisms is first addressed in \[23].\
Composition for (ε,δ)-differential privacy was first addressed in \[21] (but see the corrected proof in Appendix B, due to Dwork and Lei \[22]). The vulnerability of differential privacy to inappropriate implementa- tions of floating point numbers was observed by Mironov, who proposed a mitigation \[63].
